Raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Terrell Rose has resided in the DMV metropolitan area for more than 18 years. He is a graduate of St. Augustine’s College in the Bahamas and the University of Maryland, College Park. Terrell has worked within the pharmaceutical industry for 16 years. He is a proud and active member of the local Bahamian Diasporic community and strongly believes in the mission of BAAWMAR – creating spaces and opportunities for cultural engagement, expression and fellowship.

Born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas, the DMV has become my second home since moving to the area in 2016 after earning my bachelor’s degree. I later completed my M.S. in Applied Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Baltimore. Like many Bahamians living abroad, I proudly serve as an unofficial ambassador of home and deeply understand the importance of creating a sense of belonging away from home. My passion combines people and culture, specifically how organizations are built, sustained, and strengthened. Professionally, I am a Human Resources and Industrial-Organizational Practitioner with over six years of experience supporting nonprofit and private-sector organizations. My work has centered on fostering inclusive environments, strengthening engagement, and helping organizations better serve their communities. My commitment to Caribbean affairs has been shaped through academic and professional involvement, including membership in the Caribbean Student Association at Lincoln University and participation in a Multicultural Employee Resource Group at a former employer. These experiences reinforced my belief that culture and community are powerful drivers of impact. I am excited to contribute my skills, heart for service, and people-centered perspective in support of an organization that values connection, culture, and collective growth.

Davina was born in Freeport, Grand Bahama, raised in Long Island, and completed her secondary education in Nassau, New Providence—making her a true Bahamian island woman. She graduated from the University of Richmond in 2018 and later relocated to the DMV area to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry, which she earned in 2024. Davina currently works as a Drug Scientist with Axle Informatics at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences under the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and is deeply committed to scholarship, community well-being, and service. Passionate about giving back, Davina values meaningful engagement with her Bahamian community at home and abroad. She is excited about the opportunity to connect with the Bahamian Diaspora and to support BAAWMAR in advancing its mission.

Scott Turnquest was born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas, and moved to the United States for college. He has lived in Washington, DC since 2022 and works as a Vice President of Engineering at a venture-backed fintech company. Scott is deeply appreciative of the active and engaged Bahamian community in the Washington Mid-Atlantic region and is excited to serve as Treasurer of BAAWMAR, helping to further the organization’s mission and impact.

Kataran, a native of Freeport, Grand Bahama, lived in the DC metro area between 2009-2015 during which time he was involved with and supported the local diaspora in a range of activities. An avid musician passionate about Bahamian culture, he has performed in Junkanoo parades throughout The Bahamas for over 20 years. Kataran recently returned to the DC metro area and looks forward to supporting BAAWMAR.
